Our Mission: To promote and protect the highest form of art—literature—by collecting and sharing stories about reading.
The Story
A monogamous lover of literature, S.E. Elkins’ entire life is chronicled on her bookshelf. In July 2026, she read an article in The Atlantic titled “The End of Reading is Here.” S.E. Elkins heard the call to action.
She began asking other readers about the books that changed their life, about the stories that saved it. No matter where she went—coffeeshops, airport terminals, doctor’s office, carpool lanes—S.E. Elkins found that everyone has a story about a book that changed everything.
Save the Novel is a place to collect stories of reading. By broadcasting the rich gifts of literature, she hopes to preserve and protect the literary landscape for future generations of readers.
